"In 2006, when most women her age were crocheting teapots, secretary Jan Jack performed her first stand up comedy gig.
After a year of several dodgy gigs in even more dodgy establishments, Jan popped into the Red Lion Hotel, and had a brief chat; as a result giving birth to Laughter-House Comedy Club in October 2007. Her vision at the time was to create a comedy club that her comedians would love as much as the audience.
That vision was nearly thwarted when her very first headline act pulled out with less than 24 hours to go.....
With little experience, even less contacts and, at this point few marbles left, finding a replacement wasn’t easy. However… by a stroke of luck Jan had gigged with Andi Osho a few weeks before and Andi was her first headline act.
Ten years later, despite many comedy clubs falling by the wayside, Laughter-House is still going strong. This little club (apparently Basingstoke's best kept secret) is much loved by comedians and audience alike and has played host to many of the top acts on the UK comedy circuit."
